 ng collaborators will convene in Bonn to celebrate—and continue—the sc
 ientific legacy of Prof. J. Anton Zensus\, who served as Director at the M
 ax Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy from 1997 until January 2026 and n
 ow continues his engagement with the institute as Emeritus Director.\nOver
  nearly three decades in Bonn—and during earlier appointments at the Nat
 ional Radio Astronomy Observatory in Charlottesville and Socorro\, as well
  as at the California Institute of Technology—Anton Zensus has shaped mo
 dern radio astronomy. His scientific vision and leadership have influenced
  generations of researchers and advanced our understanding of the most ene
 rgetic phenomena in the Universe.\nEqually defining has been his role as a
  mentor to dozens of early-career scientists and as an architect of intern
 ational collaborations that transcend institutional and national boundarie
 s. This meeting is both a celebration and a conversation—an invitation t
 o reflect on where radio astronomy has come from\, and where\, together\, 
 we can take it next.\n\nRationale and Structure of the Meeting\nThe event 
 is conceived in two complementary parts\, reflecting both the scientific d
 epth and the broader human and institutional dimensions of Anton Zensus’
  career.\n\nPart I: Scientific Meeting - Sharpening the View — VLBI at t
 he Frontier    \nDay 1 and until noon of Day 2 — 75 invited participan
 ts\nThe first part is designed as a focused scientific workshop highlighti
 ng the key research themes that have defined Anton Zensus’ work. Central
  to this legacy is the study of active galactic nuclei (AGN)\, their relat
 ivistic jets\, and the physics of their central supermassive black holes.\
 nA hallmark of this research has been the development and application of v
 ery-long-baseline interferometry (VLBI) at the highest angular resolutions
 . Observations with space-borne antennas\, the Global mm-VLBI Array\, and 
 the Event Horizon Telescope have enabled transformative insights into jet 
 formation\, collimation\, and black hole environments—complemented by si
 ngle-dish observations and multi-wavelength and multi-messenger studies ac
 ross the electromagnetic spectrum and beyond.\nThe workshop aims to provid
 e forward-looking scientific perspectives inspired by these achievements. 
 By bringing together leading experts and long-standing collaborators\, it 
 will highlight current challenges\, emerging methodologies\, and future op
 portunities in high-resolution astrophysics and black hole research.\n\nPa
 rt II: Symposium on Science Policy and Academic Culture:  Making the Invi
 sible Visible — Celebrating Five Decades of VLBI at the MPIfR\nAfternoon
  and Evening of Day 2 — 100 invited guests — followed by reception\nHo
 w does transformative science actually happen? What conditions allow indiv
 iduals and institutions to build knowledge across borders\, nurture talent
 \, and shape the scientific culture of an entire field?\nThis symposium st
 eps back from the telescope and asks these broader questions. Drawing on t
 he experience and reflections of Anton Zensus and his peers\, it will expl
 ore:\n\nScience as a collaborative and international endeavor\nMentorship 
 and the development of scientific talent\nLeadership in large research inf
 rastructures and global collaborations\nThe role of research institutes in
  shaping science policy and public engagement\n\nThese themes reflect Anto
 n Zensus’ long-standing commitment not only to scientific excellence\, b
 ut also to building communities\, fostering international partnerships\, a
 nd promoting knowledge across institutional and national boundaries.\nThe 
 symposium will conclude with a reception\, offering participants an opport
 unity for informal exchange and shared celebration\n\nThis two-part event 
 honors a career that has combined scientific innovation\, institutional le
 adership\, and dedication to mentoring. By connecting cutting-edge astroph
 ysics with reflections on science policy and academic culture\, the meetin
